The Democratic party prides itself on the diversity of its individual members, which includes differences in opinions, views and beliefs. But McKnight instructs blacks to forget what they think individually: "...[I]t's time to put aside our political beliefs," and "vote to support our race."

In Greek life, "Circle the Fat" is the least of some pledges' concerns. Hazing, supposedly intended to measure a pledge's loyalty to their fraternity or sorority, can result in anything from mild humiliation to death.
One fraternity at the University of Illinois allegedly required one pledge class to raise a puppy for a week and ultimately kill it.

The prevalence of politically active celebrities coupled with the growing popularity of blogs begs the question as to why newspapers feel the need to drop their objectivity in an attempt to sway the public.
A lot of people say this election will change history, but newspapers continue the long-held tradition of endorsing a candidate, which leads to the question of whether they can be trusted as an objective source for news.

As many of you, sadly, may not know, Friday, Sept. 26 marked the first in a series of four presidential debates. McCain and Obama went head to head on issues about the economy and foreign relations, and both candidates did exceedingly well. What greatly discourages me is the seemingly lack of student involvement in this election, no matter whether you identify with a donkey or elephant.

I don't care what anyone says, Obama's got it. The Illinois senator may be the best-spoken presidential candidate in recent history. His oratory skills should make Sen. John McCain blush in embarrassment. The bad kind.
Last Friday's presidential debate was evidence enough, as if we hadn't had solid proof already, that Obama can hold an audience's attention.

History repeats itself. It always does. Adolph Hitler moronically invaded Russia not giving the armies of the Third Reich the time needed to avoid the Russian winter. His dictator idol, Napoleon, did just the same. These historical patterns, however, are not always political in nature.

With various parts of the economy falling out of the sky, customers and investors in one regional bank are not worried about covering their heads. The sky above Branch Banking and Trust is still where it is supposed to be.
The southeastern bank otherwise known as BB&T is an anomaly in the banking industry today.

As the winter sports season approaches, all things basketball spark great interest on Davidson's campus. Besides the addition of exciting new freshmen and coaches, this year's basketball season will also see the implementation of a new student ticketing process.

Last weekend I had the opportunity to be written up for the first time, which was fun in its own special way. Maybe it says a lot about me that all I could think about as the officers set about collecting names and packing case after case into trash bags was, "Wow, I bet they could buy an X-box with all this beer.

For almost four years now, I've loved the Davidson College police force. Yes, I use the word "love" and I mean it.
From joking with Officer Jackson at Connor parties, to watching one of my friends dance with Officer Wes two years ago on self-selection night, I've been floored by the friendliness and approachability of our police officers.
