Soprano and pianist to perform in Blanton

Claudia Waite, a soprano with the Metropolitan Opera Company, will perform with piano accompanist Cynthia Clyburn Swicegood at 8 p.m. on Sept. 30 in the Blanton Auditorium as part of GWU's Distinguished Artist Series.
Waite is an active soloist at the Metropolitan Opera at the Lincoln Center in New York City. Her guest appearances include the Opera Orchestra of New York, Dallas Opera, San Francisco Opera, Opera Lyon and New Israeli Opera.
Waite's experience includes many of opera's most exciting leading ladies, including Anna Bolena, Lucrezia Borgia, Rosalinda, Leonora, the Countess Almaviva, Fiordiligi and Donna Anna, as well as several well-known character roles, such as the Witch in Hansel & Gretel and Hecuba.
