Say goodbye to Bennifer, the Boston Red Sox World Series win, Hillary Duff, the presidential election and all the other tiresome trends of 2004 - and say hello to a brand-new, bigger and better 2005.
With the new year off to a fresh start, many might wonder what it has in store. Several new cars out on the market should make it big in 2005 including the popular, new Ford Mustang.
Priscilla Watson, a Gardner-Webb University junior, believes the 2005 Mustang is hot.
"It's a good mixture of bringing a portion of the old design back while combining it with a new twist," Watson said. "And Mustangs are my favorite car."
Other cars that several students believe will be popular this year are the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Chevy SSR, Honda Accord and Jeep Liberty.
New electronics such as smart phones, digital cameras, high-tech flat panel televisions, video cell phones, iPods and high definition DVD's will soon be must haves for many.
With the new breakthroughs in Nanotechnology, wrinkle and stain repellant material is expected to be seen all over the market this year - especially for children.
In the fashion world, popular magazines and Web sites report the color pink, sequins, brooches, fur accessories, scarves and charm bracelets are going to be a must have for females.
"Side pony-tails will make a comeback because they are from the 80's, and are so hot," said GWU student Allison Nahm.
AskMen.com listed un-tucked shirts, stripes, v-necked sweaters, athletic gear and casual boots among many of the popular fashion trends for guys.
Look for the familiar musical names of artists such as Usher, Ashanti, 50 Cent, Mario, Kelly Clarkson and Maroon 5 to all be back for another huge year in music.
"50 cent will be even hotter this year because he'll throw down tight new beats," said Junior John Harris.
However, keep your ears open for the names of new artists such as Razorlight, The Alchemist, Jesse McCartney and Keyshia Cole. MTV.com has these fresh names listed as "The Next Big Thing in Music."
Other artists such as Coldplay and Green Day are anticipated to have high album sells and re-vamp the rock genre of music.
"Rock music is going to make a huge comeback, and we need more of it in the main stream radio," said GWU student Travis Page.
As for celebrities, the faces of Paris Hilton, Jude Law, Lindsay Lohan, Heath Ledger, Jamie Lynn Spears and the now-single Brad Pitt are already beginning to dominate the entertainment industry.
Movie goers can expect to spend several free nights at the theater, with highly anticipated movies such as "The Dukes of Hazzard," "Batman Begins," "The Legend of Zoro" and Steven Spielberg's "The War of the World's" hitting theaters in 05.
The Neislen Ratings report on their Web site that hot TV shows such as "The OC," "Desperate Housewives," "The Surreal Life," "Family Guy" and "American Idol" are all expected to be popular among viewers.
