Warm weather is back, and to the joy and entertainment of many Gardner-Webb students, so is Ultimate Frisbee.

At 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, rain or shine, students gather on the quad for what usually is a great game of tossing, chasing and catching the flying disc. Lots of people come out to play, and some just to watch.

"I love Frisbee," says Jess Snyder, a junior English major from Chattanooga, Tenn. "It was here when I came 3 years ago and I have played ever since."

Snyder daily partakes in the activity and has a great time. Not only does she describe playing as fun, but it is also a great place to meet more people and hang out.

"It's a good time in the afternoon. We don't just play, we have fun. We make up new moves and give them names. We even have an 'ESPN catch of the day.' "

More and more students have joined in or been brought in by other players.

"I had never played Ultimate until I got to Gardner-Webb," says Nathan Aymond, a 21-year-old English major from Harvey, La., "and now I don't know how I ever lived without it."

Participants don't have to be athletic to play. It about having fun, not about how good you are. Anyone and everyone is welcome to go out and play. The more people there are, the more fun it is.

So instead of sitting in your room wondering what to do in the afternoon, head down to the quad and join in the game.
